At least 63 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza today, according to medical sources told Al Jazeera.

The majority of the deaths—43 people—were reported in northern areas, including Gaza City, where Israeli forces have intensified their air and artillery strikes.

Health workers warn the toll may rise as search crews continue to recover bodies from destroyed buildings.

A spokesman for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital has told Al Jazeera Arabic that more than 580 Palestinians have died and over 4,000 have been wounded while waiting for aid in Gaza.

“Diseases are widespread in the Gaza Strip, especially among children,” the spokesman said, warning of soaring malnutrition levels across all governorates.

More than 400 cases of meningitis have been reported since the start of the year, with medical officials describing the situation as a full-blown health disaster.

“We live in very difficult conditions and are in shelters and displacement centres without any aid. The health system is on the verge of collapse due to the rising number of casualties from Israeli fire,” he added.

Officials say the newly introduced aid mechanism has deepened the crisis, with mounting pressure on hospitals unable to cope with the daily influx of wounded.

A medical source in Gaza told Al Jazeera Arabic that at least 15 bodies have been recovered from beneath the rubble of a house in Jabalia al-Nazla, following an Israeli air strike on the northern part of the enclave.

Rescue teams are still combing through debris as fears grow that more victims may remain trapped.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes, said on Sunday that Israel’s recent war with Iran had created new “opportunities”—including a chance to free captives held in Gaza.

“Many opportunities have opened up now following this victory. First of all, to rescue the hostages,” Netanyahu told senior security officials.

He added that Israel must still “solve the Gaza issue” and defeat Hamas, expressing confidence both goals could be achieved.

The ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant in 2024, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza. Both men have dismissed the charges as “anti-Semitic”.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has condemned the deadly chaos surrounding food distribution in Gaza, calling the situation “unbearable” for families forced to choose between starvation and risking death.

“People in Gaza are facing an unbearable dilemma: risk your family starving or risk your life to maybe get food at an Israeli-US distribution site,” MSF posted on X.

The group added, “This is not humanitarian aid. It is slaughter,” referencing the growing number of Palestinians killed while attempting to access aid linked to the US- and Israeli-supported Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.

Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin met with senior Hamas officials on Sunday to discuss Gaza’s worsening humanitarian crisis and renewed efforts to reach a ceasefire, according to the state-run Anadolu Agency.

Kalin held the talks with Mohammad Darwish, head of Hamas’s political council, at an undisclosed location. Security sources told Anadolu the discussion focused on securing aid access and stopping the war.

The parties also stressed the need for unity among Palestinian factions and outlined steps towards a lasting ceasefire in the besieged enclave.

The meeting followed remarks by US President Donald Trump, who said on Friday a ceasefire deal could be reached “within the next week.”

Talks have dragged on for months, with famine warnings mounting after Israel halted food deliveries to Gaza for over two months.

Food trucks have since resumed movement under a controversial scheme involving US contractors and Israeli oversight. But Palestinians have continued to be killed while attempting to retrieve aid, according to local witnesses and officials.

The Israeli military says a soldier was killed by an explosive device in northern Gaza on Sunday, bringing the total number of Israeli troops killed in the besiged enclave this month to 20—the highest monthly toll in a year of fighting.

Last week, seven soldiers were killed in a single blast near Khan Younis in the south.

According to the Israeli army, 880 of its soldiers have died since the war began on 7 October. Since Israel resumed its offensive on 18 March—ending a temporary ceasefire with Hamas—29 soldiers have been killed, the majority of them in June.

Gaza hospital officials say Israeli air raids have killed 47 people since dawn on Sunday, reported Al Jazeera Arabic.

The victims were brought to medical centres across the Strip following a fresh wave of bombardment. Emergency crews warn the death toll could rise as search efforts continue in areas hit hardest.

Israel’s attacks on Palestinians seeking aid continue to prove deadly. At least 18 people were killed and over 41 wounded in the last 24 hours as they attempted to access food and essential supplies, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Since March 18, a total of 583 Palestinians have been killed and more than 4,186 wounded in Israeli assaults targeting or impacting aid seekers. The overall toll during this period has reached 6,175 killed and 21,378 wounded.

Eight more Palestinians were killed on Sunday evening after Israeli forces targeted several areas in the Gaza Strip.

Wafa news agency reported that three children were killed as a result of Israeli artillery shelling in Jabalia, north of the enclave.

Four Palestinians, including a child, were also killed, and others wounded when Israeli forces shelled a house in the al-Sabra neighbourhood in Gaza City.

At least one other person was killed in an Israeli air strike on the al-Tuffah neighbourhood, east of Gaza City.

British police are considering whether to launch an investigation after a member of punk duo Bob Vylan chanted "death, death to the IDF" at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday.

Avon and Somerset Police said on X late on Saturday that it was aware of the remarks made on the festival's West Holts stage.

"Video evidence will be assessed by officers to determine whether any offences may have been committed that would require a criminal investigation," the police statement said.

The punk artist said "death, death to the IDF" multiple times while on stage, in reference to the Israeli army, prompting many in the crowd to echo the words back. Several people in the crowd were waving large Palestine flags.

Glastonbury Festival said it was "appalled" by Bob Vylan’s remarks.

"Their chants very much crossed a line and we are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence," it said in a statement.

A group of settlers attacked Israeli military forces on Friday night at an outpost near Kafr Malik, northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

According to Israeli media reports, dozens of settlers defied a military order to leave a closed military zone. In response, the military arrested six individuals, prompting a confrontation between the settlers and security forces.

A military source told Haaretz that settlers threw stones at, beat and choked the soldiers, and punctured the tyres of their military vehicles.

"Israeli civilians who entered a closed military zone, near Kafr Malik, attacked the force with severe violence," the military said in a statement.

Settlers said that a 14-year-old boy was shot with live ammunition during the incident and taken to the hospital with a shoulder injury.

However, according to the military, the boy was reportedly wounded during another confrontation between the army and settlers in the area.

Iran has said it is not convinced Israel will abide by a ceasefire that ended 12 days of hostilities between the two countries.

"We did not start the war, but we have responded to the aggressor with all our power," Iran's armed forces chief of staff, Abdolrahim Mousavi, was quoted as saying by state television.

"We have serious doubts over the enemy's compliance with its commitments including the ceasefire, we are ready to respond with force" if attacked again, he added, six days into the ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump.

In a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres published on Sunday, Iran demanded that the United Nations recognise Israel and the United States as being to blame for the conflict.

"We officially request hereby that the Security Council recognise the Israeli regime and the United States as the initiators of the act of aggression and acknowledge their subsequent responsibility, including the payment of compensation and reparations," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote in the letter.
