The Freedom Flotilla Coalition says it is preparing to launch another aid mission to Gaza, weeks after Israeli forces seized one of its vessels in international waters.
The group confirmed that its next boat, named Handala, will depart from the Italian port of Siracusa on 13 July in a renewed effort to challenge Israel’s blockade of the coastal enclave.
In a post on X, the coalition said, “The mission is for the children of Gaza.” The vessel is named after Handala, a cartoon figure of a 10-year-old boy who has come to symbolise Palestinian resistance.
Israeli forces previously intercepted the aid ship Madleen about 185km off the Gaza coast, detaining 12 activists on board, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. All were later deported.
Israeli warplanes have reportedly launched air strikes on the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah, according to Houthi-run Al Masirah TV.
The reported attack comes shortly after the Israeli military threatened to target Yemen in response to continued Houthi operations in the Red Sea.
An Israeli court has approved the use of a soldier’s sperm killed by Hamas, to conceive a child via surrogacy, granting his mother’s request to have a grandchild after his death in Gaza.
According to Channel 12, the court authorised the highly unusual procedure for Maor Eisenkot, an Israeli combat soldier killed during operations in Gaza in December 2023. The ruling marks the first of its kind since Israel's war on Gaza started.
The decision was based on testimony alleging that the soldier had spoken about wanting to have children, including permitting the use of his sperm posthumously—even by someone he had never met.
His mother reportedly learned of his wishes only after his death, through a friend he had confided in during childhood.
Israeli warplanes have carried out a wave of air strikes across Lebanon, hitting several regions from the east to the south of the country, according to local media and video shared online.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said at least three strikes targeted the outskirts of Bodai, a town in the eastern Baalbek area.
Three more air raids reportedly hit near the towns of Arzi and Burj Rahal, located northeast of Tyre in southern Lebanon.
Israeli jets also bombed parts of Kfar Melki in the Sidon district, along with towns near the Litani River and multiple locations in the mountainous Iqlim al-Tuffah region.
The Tony Blair Institute (TBI) has been linked to a project widely condemned for proposing the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, involving a sweeping postwar redevelopment of the besieged Strip.
Plans include a "Trump Riviera" and infrastructure named after wealthy Gulf monarchs, according to documents reviewed by the Financial Times (FT) and revealed on Sunday.
The vision, outlined in a slide deck titled The Great Trust, was created by a group of Israeli businessmen with support from consultants at Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
BCG’s plan assumed that at least 25 percent of Palestinians would leave "voluntarily", with most never returning. It remains unclear whether Palestinians would have any choice in the matter, but the proposal has been widely condemned as ethnic cleansing of the territory’s indigenous population.

Gaza’s Health Ministry says eight people have been killed by Israel and more than 40 wounded in incidents linked to aid distribution in the past 24 hours alone.
The figures bring the total number of Palestinians killed while trying to access food and essential aid to 751, with at least 4,931 wounded since the war began.
According to officials, 6,860 of those killed and 24,220 of the wounded have been recorded since 18 March 2025, reflecting the rising toll in recent months.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health says hospitals across the territory have received 80 bodies and treated 304 people for injuries over the past 24 hours, as Israel’s assault continues.
Authorities warn the actual death toll is likely higher, with many victims still trapped under rubble or left on the streets, unreachable by emergency crews due to ongoing strikes and limited access.
Since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza on 7 October 2023, the death toll has now climbed to 57,418, with 136,261 injured, according to the ministry.

In a brief statement on Saturday, the armed group confirmed that its secretary-general, Ziyad al-Nakhalah, is heading the delegation.

Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has called on the international community to take a stand against Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
“We cannot remain indifferent to the genocide carried out by Israel in Gaza, the indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians and the use of hunger as a weapon of war,” Lula told the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.
The remarks came as ceasefire negotiations between Hamas and Israel resumed in Qatar. On Friday, Hamas confirmed it had delivered a “positive” response to the latest truce and prisoner swap proposal put forward by mediators.
Lula has been one of the most outspoken world leaders on the war, repeatedly condemning Israel’s actions in Gaza and pushing for a diplomatic solution.
Israel's Kan public broadcaster said negotiators were en route to Qatar on Sunday for indirect talks with Hamas seeking a Gaza truce and hostage release deal.
