Israeli-Palestinian film 'No Other Land' has won the 97th Academy Awards' best documentary film award.

Set in the town of Masafar Yatta in the occupied West Bank, the film is directed by Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham and Palestinian journalist Basel Adra.

Its shortlisting for the Oscar was announced on Thursday despite the film not having any distribution deal in the US.

Much of No Other Land is made up of footage dating back to Adra's childhood showing his activist father squaring off against Israeli soldiers and settlers in order to stop appropriation of Palestinian land.

The movie previously won the Documentary Film Award at the Berlin International Film Festival, otherwise known as the Berlinale, in February last year.

Israel is planning to displace the Palestinians in northern Gaza to the territory’s south and later, if needed, cutting all electricity to the Strip, in a bid to pressure Hamas into accepting the extension of the first phase of the ceasefire, the Kan public broadcaster reported.

Report says the final step is a complete return to war, with the heavy bombs previously withheld by the former US administration and the billions of dollars in arms and military equipment now being sent to Israel by the Trump government.

On Sunday, Israel blocked all aid from entering Gaza after Hamas refused to implement Israel's plan to extend the first phase of the ceasefire deal.

Hamas said it will not agree to an extension of phase one of the ceasefire and instead demands a start to phase two as originally planned under the terms of the ceasefire deal initially agreed upon by Israel and Hamas.

A group of pro-Palestine activists projected the documentary Gaza: How to Survive a Warzone onto a BBC building in Glasgow in protest against the broadcaster’s decision to remove it from its streaming service.

The activists, part of the Gaza Genocide Emergency Committee, criticised the BBC’s move, calling it “shameful.”

In a statement shared on X, they said: “We’re showing it right back to them. For the children of Gaza.”

The BBC pulled its documentary about children in Gaza from iPlayer after mounting pressure over a featured child, 13-year-old Abdullah al-Yazouri, being the son of a Palestinian minister, in a move some commentators have slammed as "cowardly".

Hundreds of British celebrities signed a petition calling for the BBC to restore the documentary on Gaza that has been pulled after complaints from pro-Israel activists.
