Cats were seen eating the corpses of Palestinians in central Gaza amid a devastating Israeli incursion that has killed scores and blocked rescue workers from assisting victims.

Footage posted on Sunday by local video creator Talal Mahmoud showed cats eating from bodies of Palestinians strewn on the streets near a UN-run school in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

Ambulances and first responders had been unable to reach many areas under attack due to the heavy Israeli bombardment in recent days.

The Gaza-based government media office on Monday condemned the “horrific war crimes” committed by Israeli forces in its latest ground assault on the Nuseirat camp, which local media said began on the weekend.

The media office said 17 tanks and other military vehicles stormed the camp under the cover of drones and air strikes.

Benny Gantz, former member of Israel’s war cabinet and leader of the National Unity Party, has called for direct attacks against Iran to counter attacks from Houthi forces and other groups aligned with Tehran, according to The Times of Israel.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Gantz stated that “the solution to putting an end to the attacks lies in Tehran”.

He emphasised the importance of acting decisively, saying, “Today, we have the opportunity to catalyse a ‘strategic flip’ against Iran and its proxies. We must capitalise on the opportunity. It would be a strategic mistake of historic proportion not to.”

On Monday the Mossad Director David Barnea advised that Israel target Iran directly, rather than the Houthis.

Barnea argued that Israel should "go for the head, Iran," according to sources who spoke with Israeli news outlet Ynet.

Al Jazeera Arabic have reported armed confrontations between resistance fighters and Israeli-backed Palestinian security forces in the town of Tamoun, located south of Tubas in the occupied West Bank.

The clashes erupted after Palestinian security personnel confiscated equipment from a residential property in the area, escalating tensions.

Last week, the Israeli army reportedly expressed satisfaction with a recent operation conducted by PA forces in the Jenin refugee camp, according to the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA).

Over the past two weeks, operations under Israeli military oversight have involved approximately 300 armed PA personnel.

Israel's Central Command has recommended strengthening the PA’s security apparatus and increasing coordination.

Following this advice, the Israeli security cabinet instructed the army to bolster its collaboration with PA forces.

At least two security officers from the Palestinian Authority have been killed while targeting Palestinian resistance fighters.

The PA's operations are carried out in collaboration with Israel and under its oversight.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has announced that it will issue an advisory opinion following a request from the UN General Assembly on Israel’s obligations to ensure the delivery of aid to Palestinians.

This includes aid provided by UN agencies, international organisations, and third countries.

The decision follows the General Assembly’s Thursday vote seeking urgent clarity after Israel banned the UN Palestinian refugee agency (Unrwa) and hindered the operations of other humanitarian groups in Gaza.

A total of 137 countries supported the Norway-drafted resolution, while Israel, the United States, and 10 other nations opposed it.
