Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Sunday demanded the Strait of Hormuz be opened and called for “the preservation of all energy sites of the Middle East,” without naming Iran or the US.
“We stand at a global tipping point. Further escalation could trigger a long-term energy crisis for all humanity,” Sánchez wrote on X. “The world should not pay the consequences of this war.”

Israel's military said it was investigating whether its own fire killed an Israeli civilian near the Lebanese border on Sunday, after Hezbollah claimed an attack in the same area.
Earlier Sunday, Lebanese emergency workers said that a man was killed in a "direct hit" on his car by a rocket from Lebanon.
After the incident, Hezbollah claimed a series of missile attacks targeting Israeli soldiers near the Lebanese-Israeli border.
But the Israeli army later announced it was "conducting a comprehensive investigation" into the death.
"The possibility that the incident involved fire originating from IDF soldiers is being examined," the military said in a statement.
Alarms sounded in the area around one of Israel’s major nuclear research centres on Sunday evening, a day after two Iranian missiles wounded more than 150 people in the cities of Arad and Dimona.
Israel’s rescue services said there were no immediate reports of injuries.
An Israeli air strike targeting a police vehicle on Sunday has killed three people in central Gaza's Nuseirat camp, Gaza's health ministry is reporting.
Wafa news agency reported that a further 10 people were wounded in the attack, citing the camp's Al-Awda hospital as saying that they had received casualties following the strike.
Reuters reported, citing medics and police sources, that the victims were members of the police force.
The attack came hours after another person was killed in a separate strike on northern Gaza's Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood. According to Reuters, the victim was a leader of one of Fatah's armed groups. An unknown number of people were wounded in the attack.
Israeli attacks on Gaza declined in the immediate aftermath of the launch of the US-Israeli war on Iran on February 28. However, now they are reported to have risen again, with Gaza health officials confirming that dozens of Palestinian have been killed by Israeli fire since the launch of the war.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said that Washington has "plenty of money" to fund continuing attacks on Iran.
In an interview with NBC news, Bessent ruled out the need for tax increases to fund the war, but said the US military is seeking additional funding, without specifying a figure.
The request for funding - which is reported to total $200bn - faces opposition in Congress, with Democrats and even some Republicans, questioning the need after large defence appropriations last year.
President Donald Trump has not yet sent a request for the Senate and House of Representatives to approve the sum and his administration has made clear that the number could change.
"We have plenty of money to fund this war," Bessent said. "This is supplemental. President Trump has built up the military, as he did in his first term, as he is now doing in his second term, and he wants to make sure that the military is well supplied going forward."
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said last week that the extra money was needed "to ensure that we're properly funded for what's been done, for what we may have to do in the future".

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has said that Israel's attacks on key infrastructure in southern Lebanon, such as a recent strike on the Qasmiyeh Bridge across the Litani River, constitute a "policy of collective punishment and expansion".
He said the attacks are part of a broader project of systematic destruction of infrastructure, civilian facilities and residential areas in Lebanese villages, in violation of international humanitarian law.
Aoun added that the targeting of the Litani bridges in particular, which form key crossings linking southern Lebanon with the rest of country, hinders humanitarian access and forms part of a project to solidify Israeli control over the territory.
He further called on the international community to stop Israel's actions in the area.
Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health has released a new death toll, reporting that 1,029 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since 2 March.
It added that another 2,786 have been wounded.
Iran's health minister is reporting that 210 children have been killed and another 1,510 wounded in US-Israeli attacks on the country.
He added that 300 medical centres have been damaged so far in the assault.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said it will "completely" seal off the Strait of Hormuz if the US attacks the country's nuclear power plants.
In a statement, the IRGC warned that the Strait will not be reopened until the facilities are rebuilt if the US follows through on Trump's threats to target the power plants.
It added that Israel's power plants, energy infrastructure and information and communication technology would be "extensively targeted", along with power plants in countries in the region hosting US forces.
Israeli air strikes are pummelling Lebanon's Qasmiyeh Bridge, the country's National News Agency is reporting.
Israel's Kan broadcaster shared footage which appeared to show blasts on and near the bridge.
The reports come following a warning issued by the Israeli military that it would strike the bridge, along with other crossings spanning the Litani River in southern Lebanon.
The bridge is a key route, its destruction would sever swathes of southern Lebanon from the rest of the country.
Hezbollah has claimed a series of missile attacks targeting Israeli soldiers near the Lebanese-Israeli border.
The group said its fighters targeted groups of Israeli soldiers at the Marj site opposite the town of Markaba, as well as in Jal al-Hammar, south of Odaisseh, and the Taybeh project area.
Meanwhile, Israeli media are reporting several "impacts" in central Israel following a recent Iranian missile attack.
Israel's Kann broadcaster published an image of what looked like a crater near a car park without giving the location.
The Times of Israel is reporting, citing the country's emergency medical service, that no casualties have been reported.
Israeli air strikes targeting the southern Lebanese towns of al-Sultaniyah and as-Sawana have killed at least four people and wounded seven others, Lebanon's health ministry is reporting.
The strike targeting al-Sultaniyah killed three and wounded another three, while the attack on as-Sawana killed one person and wounded four, according to the report.
Israeli attacks on Lebanon have killed at least 1,024 people and wounded another 2,740 since 2 March, according to the country's health ministry.
Israel's army has reported a fresh wave of missiles fired from Iran heading towards the country.
It added that residents will be alerted and instructed to take shelter.
The Israeli military has claimed it killed a commander of Hezbollah’s Radwan Force, along with two other group members in a strike in southern Lebanon.
In a statement, the army said the strike was conducted in Majdal Selem area, killing Abu Khalil Barji. It did not name the other victims.
It added that strikes targeting what it said was Hezbollah infrastructure had been conducted across southern Lebanon.
