Israel-Palestine live: Week three ends with over 7,000 Palestinians killed

The Israeli military has killed at least 1,873 Palestinian children in Gaza since the ongoing conflict started on 7 October, according to the latest tally released by the Palestinian health ministry.
More than 70 percent of those killed are children, women and elderly people.

Israel's relentless bombing of Gaza has damaged half of the besieged enclave's residential units and displaced 70 percent of the population, Palestinian officials said on Sunday.
According to the local government's media office, around 165,000 residential units were damaged, with at least 20,000 of them completely destroyed or made unfit for habitation.
The bombing, as well as enforced displacement orders by the army, has pushed 1.5 million people out of their homes.
The government's media office said they are staying across 220 shelters across Gaza, as well as with families and friends.
"This humanitarian catastrophe is happening in front of the eyes and ears of the entire world, without anyone doing anything to stop the brutal aggression and crime of genocide against our people," Salamah Marouf, the spokesperson of the Gaza-based media office, said.
The Israeli military said 1,210 members of the armed forces were wounded since the Hamas-led surprise attack on 7 October, the Israeli Channel 12 reported on Sunday.
Around 70 percent of them received treatment in emergency rooms but have been released from hospital since. At least 307 soldiers have been killed with dozens believed to be held as prisoners of war in Gaza.
Overall, around 1,400 people in Israel have been killed in the past 16 days, with more than 5,000 wounded. Around 300 people remain hospitalised, according to the Israeli health ministry.
Police have identified the bodies of 1,075 of those killed, including 769 civilians. Another 200 bodies or so have yet to be identified.

Palestinians in Gaza woke up to the aftermath of another round of overnight air strikes by Israel across the besieged territory.
Overnight raids killed at least 55 Palestinians and wounded scores more.
Earlier on Sunday, the Palestinian health ministry said that Israeli strikes have killed 4,385 Palestinians, including 1,756 children and 1,000 women.
Israeli officers threatened to assassinate Jenin fighters in phone calls to their families on Sunday, shortly after they bombed a mosque in the West Bank city in a pre-dawn air strike.
Intelligence officers called the parents of Palestinians on Israel's "wanted list" and ordered them to call their sons and ask them to surrender themselves to the Israeli military before 7am on Monday or be killed.
"If you want your son to live, tell him to surrender himself," the officer said in on one call heard by Middle East Eye.
Israel and Hezbollah have traded missile and artillery fire on Sunday morning as tensions continue to mount along the frontier.
The Israeli army and Lebanese media reported two anti-tank missiles launched from Lebanon towards Israeli military positions.
The Israeli army said it hit fighters in Lebanon attempting to fire anti-tank missiles, using a drone and artillery shelling.
It added that a drone was intercepted by the Iron Dome air defence system over the Lebanon border.

Rockets targeted Iraq's Ain al-Asad airbase and at least one blast was heard inside the base, army sources have said, according to Reuters.
Ain al-Asad airbase hosts US and other international forces in western Iraq.

Israel has bombed Gaza, Jenin, Syria and Lebanon in overnight air strikes as we go into the third week of the ongoing conflict in the region.
The air strikes in Jenin and southern Lebanon mark a new escalation by the Israeli military, which has been bombing Gaza round the clock for over two weeks.

An Israeli missile attack that targeted Damascus and Aleppo international airports in Syria early on Sunday has killed one civilian worker and put the airports out of service, Syrian state media reported.
Any scheduled flights to and from Damascus and Aleppo airports have been rerouted to Latakia International Airport, on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
The Israeli military said they are planning to evacuate another 14 communities close to the Lebanese border, as Hezbollah and Israel have exchanged fire in the last two weeks.
The residents will be taken to state-funded guesthouses, according to the defence ministry's National Emergency Management Authority. The plan was approved by Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.
Hezbollah says that six of its fighters have been killed so far since 7 October.
At least 89 Palestinians have been killed in the occupied West Bank either by Israeli forces or settlers since 7 October, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The latest death reported by the ministry was Malek Jamil Sharqawi, 26, who was killed by a bullet in the heart fired at him by the Israeli military during its raid on Nablus.
Israeli forces shot and killed a young Palestinian man on Sunday morning after the Israeli military stormed the West Bank city of Tammun, south of Tubas, Palestinian news outlets have reported.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that in Tubas around half-a-dozen Palestinians were injured from the live fire of Israeli forces.
Several Palestinian news outlets, citing medical sources, have reported that more than 50 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli air strikes in Gaza on Saturday night.
