An Israeli lawmaker has called for the occupation of Gaza and the expulsion of its residents, describing it as the only way to achieve security in Israel.

Following a tour near the Gaza boundary on Sunday, Limor Son Har-Melech said in a post on X that “only conquest, expulsion, and settlement will restore security for the residents of Israel”.

“Regrettably, the State of Israel is still captive to a flawed conception. There is no alternative to conquest, expulsion, and settlement,” she wrote, adding: “Any other solution is unfeasible and will bring upon us the next massacre.”

She also said there was “no escape” from controlling the so-called Netzarim Corridor, which divides Gaza into northern and southern areas, and establishing a continuous settlement presence there.

The far-right politician, from Itamar Ben-Gvir's Otzma Yehudit party, has repeatedly used hardline rhetoric on Palestinians.

She has previously praised an Israeli convicted of killing three members of a Palestinian family, and expressed support for prison officers accused of raping Palestinian detainees, claiming they had been “framed”.

She has also organised and taken part in events advocating the resettlement of Palestinian territories, including a conference at the Knesset that called for the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza and outlined plans for Jewish settlements there.

Her latest comments come as Israel considers resuming its war in Gaza, according to Army Radio. Senior military officials cited by the broadcaster said they are pushing to restart fighting, arguing that now is the optimal moment to defeat Hamas.

Plans for renewed attacks have been completed, the report said, with a final decision pending approval from Israel’s political leadership.
