Gaza: Hospitals on verge of blackout, patients at risk
Hospital staff and medical personnel in Gaza tell Middle East Eye that they are being forced to rely on backup generators after Israel cut all power to the blockaded Strip.
As bombs continue to rain down on Gaza late this evening, medical professionals say that several hospitals are now relying on old and "dilapidated" generators which are leading to increased fuel consumption and have raised concerns that it will leave patients at risk.
With electricity already running low in the Gaza Strip, due to it only having one power plant which Israel has authorised, newborn children, Palestinians requiring dialysis, patients with respiratory conditions, and those undergoing surgical procedures could be heavily affected.
