UAE urges UN Security Council vote on Gaza ceasefire

The United Arab Emirates is urging the UN Security Council to conduct a vote on Friday morning regarding a proposed resolution that calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

For a resolution to pass, it must secure a minimum of nine affirmative votes and avoid vetoes from any of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the US, Russia, China, France, and Britain.

Currently, the US has indicated its lack of support for any additional measures by the council at this time.
