Hamas condemns Palestinian Authority's attempt to 'kidnap' member in Jenin
Hamas released a statement regarding clashes in Jenin on Saturday night in which the Palestinian Authority's security forces tried to arrest a senior member of the group's military wing in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank.
"We strongly condemn the sinful crime of the [Palestinian Authority] security services in attempting to kidnap the persecuted mujahid Qais al-Saadi in the Jenin camp," Hamas's statement read.
Saadi is a former inmate of Israeli prisons and has been wanted by Israel for over two years. He was shot and lightly wounded by the Palestinian police forces on Saturday night, but managed to escape.
"We reject this unpatriotic behaviour that comes after the Moscow meeting and the confirmation of the unity of the national ranks and support for the resistance," Hamas said, referring to a meeting between several Palestinian factions, including Hamas and Fatah, that took place in Russia earlier in the week.
