Fires burning on ship carrying crude oil in Red Sea following strike
Three fires continue to burn aboard a Greek-flagged oil tanker in the Red Sea, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which provided this update a day after the vessel was evacuated following an attack by Houthi fighters.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the tanker "belongs to a company that has ties to the Israeli enemy and violated the ban on entry to the ports of occupied Palestine."
The tanker is carrying 150,000 tonnes of crude oil, raising concerns about a potential environmental disaster. The Houthis have pledged to target commercial ships in the region as an act of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza
Video released by the #Houthis seems to show the setting of explosive charges on the deck of the tanker #Sounion off the coast of Yemen in the #RedSea.

At 150k tons, this tanker is almost twice the size of Exxon Valdez and the environmental damage to the region will be massive. pic.twitter.com/EfUbg5o5j9
