Israel has 'defeated' Hezbollah, new defence minister says

Israel has “defeated” Hezbollah, the country’s new defence minister said.

Israel Katz said Israel has defeated Hezbollah on the battlefield; a statement likely to raise questions about Israel’s next moves in Lebanon.

Hezbollah continues to fire rockets and drones at Israel.

Katz said eliminating long-time Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was Israel’s “crowning” achievement.

The plan now is to “change the security reality in the north,” he added.

 “We managed to maintain legitimacy and prevent decisions by international bodies and countries that asked us to stop the war unconditionally,” he said.
