Qatari PM says new momentum for ceasefire after Trump election

Qatar's prime minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, has said he sees new momentum in the Gaza ceasefire negotiations.

Speaking at the Doha Forum, the prime minister said the momentum came following the election of Donald Trump in the US.

"We have sensed, after the election, that the momentum is coming back," he said, adding that there had been "a lot of encouragement from the incoming administration in order to achieve a deal, even before the president comes to the office."
