Live Blog Update| Israel's genocide in Gaza

Evening recap

Good evening Middle East Eye readers. On Tuesday evening, Christian Palestinians in Gaza gathered in the north for worship on Christmas eve amid ongoing, nonstop Israeli bombardment.

In one bombing of the Nazla area in Jabalia, at least nine Palestinians were killed. Another bombing on the area of Beit Hanoun killed at least three Palestinians.

As the death toll continues to climb in Gaza, the Israeli negotiating team that was in Qatar this past week is returning to Israel. The Israeli prime minister's office described the talks in Doha as "meaningful", with Palestinians in Gaza hoping for an end to Israel's war that has raged on for more than a year.

Here's what else you need to know about Tuesday's developments in Israel's war on Gaza:

  • Several members of Gaza's civil defence were killed by Israeli forces in separate attacks, including firefighter Najib Naji Sakr.

  • An Israeli raid on the West Bank refugee camp of Tulkarm has killed at least 8 Palestinians, while an Israeli military commander was injured in the raid.

  • Fatah, which heads the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, threatened Al Jazeera's operations in the occupied West Bank, accusing the network of biased reporting on the PA's assault on Jenin.

  • Al Jazeera condemned the attack by Fatah, saying that it followed its coverage of the confrontations between Palestinian security forces and resistance fighters in Jenin.

  • Israeli authorities extended the administrative detention of Khalida Jarrar for the third time, forcing her to stay in Israeli prison for another six months.

  • At least 12,820 students have been killed and 21,351 wounded in Gaza and the occupied West Bank since the onset of Israeli onslaught in October 2023, according to the Palestinian education ministry.
