Israel's security cabinet approves ceasefire deal

Israel's security cabinet has approved the ceasefire deal with Hamas, which is expected to go into effect this Sunday.

Far-right ministers Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich have threatened to step down from the government amid discussions on the exchange of Israeli captives for Palestinian prisoners.

The deal, which was welcomed by Israeli President Isaac Herzog, is awaiting official approval of Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition.
