War on Gaza has left 70 percent of roads in ruins after Israeli bombardment

Gaza’s municipality has begun clearing the city’s main roads to prepare for the return of thousands of displaced Palestinians after the devastation from Israeli bombardment left critical infrastructure in ruins.

Speaking to Al Jazeera Arabic, municipality spokesman Asem Al-Nabih said: “More than 70 percent of the roads have been completely or partially destroyed by Israeli strikes.”

Despite the damage, Nabih said officials have devised a plan to restore the city, which requires international assistance.

“The list of urgent needs has been sent to international organisations, and we hope intervention will come swiftly,” he said, saying that Gaza cannot recover alone from the war on Gaza.
