Israel aims for Gaza ceasefire extension: Israeli radio

Israel seeks to implement the plan proposed by US Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and extend the ceasefire for 60 days, according to Israeli radio.

As a new round of Gaza ceasefire negotiations takes off in Doha on Tuesday, Israel said it was ready to discuss releasing the Palestinian prisoners in stages, and refuses to discuss an end to the war.

While Israel seeks to extend the first phase of the agreement until mid-April, Hamas is pushing for a shift to the second phase, which includes a permanent cessation of hostilities.

Meanwhile, Israel has intensified pressure by threatening to resume military operations and cutting off essential supplies to Gaza, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the war-torn enclave.
