Qatar warns of 'catastrophic consequences' after US strikes
Qatar has warned of “catastrophic consequences” following the overnight US attacks targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, urging an immediate halt to military operations and a return to diplomatic dialogue.
In a statement on Sunday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is “deeply concerned” by the escalating tensions in the region after strikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing the current situation as dangerously volatile on both regional and international levels.
“The region cannot bear further escalation,” the ministry said, calling on all sides to exercise restraint, act with wisdom, and avoid actions that could lead to wider conflict and humanitarian suffering.
Qatar, which hosts a US base, reiterated its full support for all regional and international efforts aimed at resolving disputes peacefully and fostering stability through dialogue rather than force.
