Live Blog Update| Israel's genocide in Gaza

Evening recap

Our live blog will shortly be closing until tomorrow morning.

Here are the day's key developments:

- The death toll in Gaza since 7 October 2023 has now reached 56,077, with 131,848 wounded, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said.

- The Israeli army has killed at least 79 people in Gaza on Tuesday, including 50 waiting for aid.

- Altogether, at least 410 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli military while trying to collect aid from the controversial new US-Israeli aid hubs in Gaza, which is "a likely war crime," the United Nations human rights office, Ohchr, has said.

The Reuters news agency reported that the US is giving $30m to those aid hubs, run by the scandal-plagued Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Reuters cites four of its own sources as well as a government document it has reviewed for its story.

- Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said on Tuesday that Doha was working to restart Gaza ceasefire talks in the coming days and cautioned Israel against using its truce with Iran as a pretext to intensify attacks on the besieged enclave.

- The Palestinian Ministry of Education said Israel’s war has severely impacted Gaza’s education sector, leaving 788,000 students there without access to schooling.
