Trump says Gaza ceasefire not fragile, pledges support for Netanyahu
US President Donald Trump on Monday said that the ceasefire in Gaza is not fragile and that he would intervene to help Netanyahu, who he said was not being treated well in Israel.
"The ceasefire agreement in Gaza is not fragile, but very solid. I would force Hamas to disarm very quickly if I wanted to, and it would be eliminated," Trump said in an interview with CBS 60 Minutes.
"Netanyahu is the person Israel needed in times of war," he said.
He added, "I don't think they treat him very well. He's under trial for some things, and... I think it should – you know, we'll – we'll be involved to help him out a little bit, because I think it's very unfair."
Israel committed 194 violations of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on 10 October, the director of the government media office in Gaza said.
Israeli forces continued to violate the ceasefire agreement with artillery shelling targeting the eastern part of Deir al-Balah city in the central Gaza Strip on Monday.
Palestinian sources said that Israeli warplanes also targeted the eastern areas of Gaza City early Monday morning.
The report said that powerful explosions were heard east of Gaza City, where Israeli forces were demolishing residential buildings
