Settlers plant thousands of Israeli flags near Ramallah highway to ‘reclaim visibility’

Israeli settler groups on Friday planted thousands of Israeli flags along Highway 60 in the occupied West Bank, saying they aim to “reclaim visibility” in the area.

"A flagpole every 40 meters. Both sides of the road. Through Arab areas too," Israel Today wrote, sharing photos on its Telegram channel.

Israeli media described the move as a "youth-led initiative" by Yeshiva student Eyal Spiegel and about 100 volunteers who placed roughly 2,000 flags over 17km between Ramallah and Nablus.

Yeshivas are traditional Jewish educational institutions focused on the study of Rabbinic literature, primarily the Talmud.

Spiegel told Israeli media the effort was meant to strengthen a sense of “security and belonging” for Israelis in the area. Organisers say they plan to expand the campaign.
