Palestinian prisoner dies in Israeli jail after 24 years in detention

A Palestinian prisoner who spent 24 years in Israeli detention has died in Gilboa Prison, the Israeli Prison Service announced on Sunday.

Imad Sarhan, a 48-year-old Palestinian citizen of Israel, endured years of solitary confinement and systematic torture that severely affected his health, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Club.

Israeli prison authorities informed Sarhan's family that he had suffered a heart attack, but provided no further details about the circumstances of his death or his prior medical condition.

Sarhan is the latest of more than 100 Palestinians to die in Israeli custody since the start of Israel's genocidal campaign in Gaza.
