Namir Shabibi
Namir Shabibi is an independent investigative journalist who has published reports and documentaries for the BBC, the Bureau, Declassified UK and VICE News. He leads Unredacted’s Working Group on Telecoms, Spyware and Surveillance, and is an advisor to the Kenya Human Rights Commission. Namir also undertakes investigative research for legal cases and has served as an expert witness on counterterrorism. He previously worked for Reprieve, and for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Guantánamo Bay and Darfur. Namir is currently a visiting lecturer and doctoral candidate at the University of Westminster, exploring the role of covert paramilitary operations in the ‘War on Terror’.
