Israel-Palestine live: Thousands in state of panic as Israel continues to strike hospitals
Mises à jour du direct
Hundreds of people have come out in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, denouncing Israel's bombing of the Jabalia refugee camp.
The bombing of the camp has caused the deaths of 100 people, and left hundreds wounded.
A correspondent on the ground in Gaza describes the horrific scenes at the Jabalia refugee camp following intense Israeli bombing, which has turned much of the neighbourhood into rubble.
“If there was a word to describe something bigger than a massacre, this would be it. Medical staff cannot even get to the site and do not have the tools to help die to the full siege imposed by Israel,” he said.
“Homes are no longer distinguishable, people have been buried under their own homes.”
At least 20 homes have been destroyed in the bombing, each home containing more than one family.
The bombing has left large craters in the ground where homes stood.
The Jablaia refugee camp was home to Palestinians who were expelled from their original villages in 1948.
Hospitals in Gaza are already overwhelmed, with at least eight fully out of service due to bombing and the siege.
A father from Jabalia’s refugee camp wails in distress after losing his three children after Israel heavily bombed the residential camp.
“My three children, my three children, oh God,” he screams.
At least 400 people have been confirmed dead or wounded in the attack. Palestinian officials say six US-made bombs targeted residential homes causing a 'massacre'.
Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian humanitarian and physician, said that Gaza is now in the “darkest hour,” and that Israel has committed the “worst massacre,” following the bombing of the Jabalia refugee camp.
Speaking to Al Jazeera Arabic, he said “this is the time everyone should stand together and denounce any attacks against civilians.”
“This is the worst massacre I have seen, at least 15 buildings have been completely destroyed. These are barbaric Israeli attacks which have happened while the medical sector is breaking down. It is clear that these are war crimes and there is no excuse for it,” he added.
He also called on countries to stop supplying Israel with fuel as long as they continue to bomb civilians in Gaza.
Heavy Israeli bombing has flattened large swathes of the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza, leaving at least 400 dead or wounded.
Survivors are searching through the rubble for their loved ones, while others stand in shockk at the scale of destruction.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health says at least 400 Palestinians have been killed or wounded in an Israeli air strike on the Jabalia refugee camp.
The residential and densely populated area has been engulfed in chaos.
A correspondent for Al Jazeera Arabic on the ground says it will take “weeks” to save and pull people from under the rubble due to the scale of destruction.
"The massacre is huge, it is immposible to count how many homes have been destoryed. Peoples' limbs are scattered around everywhere," he added.
People are searching through the rubble with their bare hands. Many families were still in their homes when the bombs hit.
The UK's opposition Labour Party is deeply divided over party leader Keir Starmer's response to the conflict in Gaza.
Starmer, a former human rights lawyer, has been a keen supporter of Israel's retaliatory strikes against Palestinians in Gaza and had backed its right to withdraw water supplies to the region before walking back on his statements.
Starmer opposes a ceasefire to end the Israeli bombardment that has killed more than 8,500 people so far but many in his party are calling for and to the air strikes.
Expressions of solidarity with Palestinians have been censured within the party in recent years and the most recent victim of the campaign was MP Andy MacDonald, who was suspended for calling for peace among Palestinians and Israelis between "the river and the sea".
Palestinian health officials speaking to Al Jazeera said scores of Palestinians had been killed in Israeli air strikes on the Jabaliya refugee camp in Gaza.
Officials at the Indonesian Hospital said they had seen at least 50 fatalities with the Ministry of Health putting the death toll at 100 so far, and the Ministry of the Interior saying that there are 400 dead and wounded in total.
A ministry spokesman said that the attack rivalled the earlier attack on the Al-Ahli hospital and that an entire residential complex had been destroyed.
Amnesty International says an investigation it carried out proves Israel unlawfully used white phosphorus in Lebanon.
The rights group said the attack occured in Dhayra in south Lebanon on 16 October and should be investigated as a war crime.
Middle East Eye has previously reported the suspected use of white phosphorus in Gaza with Human Rights Watch also accusing Israel of its use.
A new Amnesty investigation has found that the Israeli army indiscriminately, and therefore unlawfully, used white phosphorous in an attack on Dhayra in south Lebanon on 16 October.

Yemen's Houthi movement said it had launched a large number of ballistic missiles and drones at Israel in a televised statement reported by the Reuters news agency.
The group's military spokesperson Yahya Saree said that his organisation planned more attack on Israel so long as it kept up its bombardment of Gaza.
The Houthis control Yemen's capital Sanaa and large areas of the country.
Staff in German governmental and non-governmental organisations operating in Jordan, including the German Embassy, are facing potential dismissal threats if they engage in online pro-Palestine advocacy, according to testimonies shared with Middle East Eye.
In some cases, employees have also been requested to express their disapproval of Hamas’s incursion into southern Israel on 7 October. These actions seem to align with the stance of the ruling Social Democratic Party in Germany, which is currently endorsing Israel's military operations in Gaza.

Sources on both the Palestinian and Israeli side said on Tuesday that clashes were ongoing on the ground in Gaza with at least three main fronts seeing fighting in the coastal enclave.
The Israeli army described the clashes as "fierce battle" and said they were taking place mostly in the northwest of Gaza, according Al Jazeera and other media.
Israeli tanks have previously been seen to advance into open agricultural land in the northwestern, northeastern and eastern sectors of the territory.
There are no reports of an Israeli military presence in residential areas, as of yet.
Hamas said it was targeting Israeli armour with mortars and shoulder-fired anti-tank missiles in addition to small arms clashes with Israeli troops.
The Palestinian armed group says it has hit Israeli tanks and killed soldiers but Israel has made no comment on casualties.
Israel also claims to have killed "dozens" of Palestinian fighters but there has also been no comment from Hamas on the claims.

Israeli forces have removed a work of art in Jenin that commemorated an attack on an ambulance during the First Intifada in 2002.
The sculpture of a horse was made of the mangled wreckage of the vehicle destroyed while transporting the wounded.
Standing at the entrance of the Jenin refugee camp, the art work was made by local Palestinians in collaboration with the German artist Thomas Kilpper.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health has released updated casualty figures from the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza.

Around 2,000 people are still missing, including 1,100 children. The vast majority of these people are believed to be dead and buried under rubble.
At least 21,543 have suffered injuries of various severity.
