Palestinian news outlets are now reporting that the power has gone out at the Indonesian Hospital amid the ongoing Israeli bombardment.

Reports are also saying that Israeli forces are surrounding the hospital, raising fears that the medical facility will face the same fate as al-Shifa Hospital.

Journalists on the ground are reporting that Israeli forces are shooting anyone that tries to leave the hospital.

Several days ago, Israeli forces launched a military operation on al-Shifa, the largest medical complex in Gaza, forcibly evacuating the hospital while claiming that there were Hamas tunnels underneath the hospital.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has provided an update to the 18 November Israeli air strike on Khan Younis.

MSF said that within minutes of the blast, at least 122 people arrived at Nasser Hospital, and 70 people were dead on arrival.

“While 70 people were dead upon arrival, dozens of injured, including many children, arrived in critical conditions with severe burns,” MSF, which has doctors at the hospital, said on X.

The group added that surgeons at the hospitals are doing roughly 10 burn surgeries a day.

“The medical needs are huge and MSF is ready to scale up its activities, but we need basic guarantees of safety and unrestricted access of medical and humanitarian supplies into Gaza,” said Christophe Garnier, an MSF project coordinator in southern Gaza.

MSF said there was an urgent need for a ceasefire.

The UN's humanitarian office (Ocha) released a brief report on Sunday, stating the current humanitarian situation on the ground in Gaza.

Ocha said that at least 45 percent of all housing units in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged. The same can be said for 300 educational facilities, and at least 135 medical facilities have been attacked.

Ocha added that it could not independently verify the data, and that it was relying on the Palestinian Ministry of Health and Israel's government.

The White House has responded to news that Houthi forces seized a vessel in the Red Sea, calling it a "flagrant violation of international law".

"We demand the immediate release of the ship and its crew. We will consult with our UN partners for the appropriate next steps," a National Security Council spokesperson said in a statement to Al Jazeera.

On Sunday, the Israeli military said that Yemen's Houthis had seized a cargo ship that was sailing from Turkey to India, adding that the vessel was not Israeli-owned and had no Israelis among its crew.

Since 7 October, Washington has increased its military footprint in the Middle East by sending carrier strike groups, fighter jets, and a nuclear-powered submarine.

Good evening MEE readers,

While reports say ceasefire talks are nearing a decision that could see a pause in air strikes and the release of some hostages, so far nothing concrete has been determined. One Israeli official denied reports that indicated a ceasefire would begin at 11am on Monday, not providing any further details.

Israel's bombardment was ongoing on Sunday, as people in the northern Gaza Strip continued to forcibly flee to the south.

At least 31 premature babies arrived at southern Gaza's Tal Alsultan Hospital in Rafah, the Palestinian health ministry confirmed, adding that the babies are set to be sent to Egyptian hospitals with their families on Monday.

The new death toll in the Gaza Strip is 13,000, including 5,500 children and 3,500 women. At least 30,000 people have been injured, according to Gaza's government media office.

Some 41 members of one family were killed in an Israeli strike on their home in Gaza City. The local health ministry released a list of names of 41 members of the Malka family it said were killed by the strike at dawn in the city's Zeytoun district.

Two more journalists were also killed, along with the head of a prominent media institution in Gaza, bringing the number of journalists killed during the weekend to six.

The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said the weekend deaths raised to 48 the number of journalists and media workers it had confirmed killed in the region since 7 October.

Others news on Sunday includes:

  • Unesco slammed Israel's targeting of schools in the Gaza Strip in a post to social media, saying: "Appalling images have emerged in the wake of the bombing of schools in which many civilians had taken refuge. Targeting schools is a clear violation of international law."
  • The Israeli army said that it struck "Hezbollah targets" in Lebanon in response to the group's earlier launches towards Israeli territory. It did not report whether there were any casualties.
  • The former French Ambassador to Israel and the United States, Gerard Araud, denounced the actions of Israeli settlers in the West Bank, describing them as “outright ethnic cleansing”, and called for a “firm” reaction from the European community
  • An NBC News poll found that 70 percent of voters aged 18-34 disapprove of US President Joe Biden's handling of Israel's war on Gaza. Across all voters, the Biden administration has 34 percent approval, while 56 percent of all voters disapprove.
