Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, leader of Yemen’s Houthi movement, has accused the US of launching a new wave of aggression against Yemen through air raids and naval bombardments.

He stated, “The aim of this aggression is to stop our support for the Palestinian people, who face starvation and genocide under Israeli occupation.”

Al-Houthi criticised the lack of international action, saying, “There is no serious move or real pressure to force aid into Gaza. America is a partner in Israel’s crimes, enabling its plans and desires.”

He warned that failure to break the blockade encourages further atrocities, adding, “The Israeli enemy, with American support, is committing genocide in Gaza, and this cannot be tolerated.”

The Houthi leader reaffirmed their decision to target Israeli shipping as a means to pressure the entry of humanitarian aid.

“Our decision to support Gaza by banning Israeli navigation concerns only the Israeli enemy,” he said. Al-Houthi emphasised that the only solution is to allow aid into Gaza and end the starvation of its residents, stating, “The Israeli enemy escalates its crimes whenever there is no global pressure or confrontation.”

Far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has praised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to dismiss Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, calling it “a necessary and desirable step.”

Smotrich criticised Bar for not resigning following the 7 October security failures, stating, “After such a fundamental failure, responsibility requires that he vacate the position long ago. His clinging to power is impudence and arrogance – the most anti-democratic behaviour possible.”

Far-right former National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir also supported the move, saying, “This is something I have been demanding for a long time – better late than never. There is no place in a democratic country for officials who act politically against elected leaders.”

On social media, Ben Gvir urged the right-wing to “learn from President Trump to eradicate the Deep State.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced plans to propose the dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar during a government meeting this week.

Netanyahu accused Bar of attempting to “blackmail” him, following claims by Bar’s predecessor, Nadav Argaman, that he possesses significant knowledge that could be used against the prime minister.

In a statement, Netanyahu emphasised the gravity of the situation, stating, “We are in the midst of a war for our very existence – a war on seven fronts.”

He added, “At all times, but especially in such an existential war, the prime minister must have full confidence in the Shin Bet chief. Unfortunately, I do not have such confidence. This distrust has grown over time.”

The United States and Israel have asked three East African governments to accept forcibly displaced Palestinians from Gaza, according to US and Israeli officials who spoke to The Associated Press (AP).

On Friday, AP reported that the US and Israel began discussing the forced displacement of Palestinians last month with the governments of Sudan, Somalia and its breakaway region Somaliland.

This comes after US President Donald Trump suggested in February that the US could "take over" the Gaza Strip and expel Palestinians. His declaration prompted Egypt to draft an alternative plan for Gaza's reconstruction, which has since been adopted by Arab leaders.

The $53bn Egyptian plan rejects the displacement of Palestinians and instead focuses on redeveloping the enclave without depopulating it.

Earlier this week, Trump appeared to signal a retreat from the proposed mass expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza. When asked about it during a meeting in the White House with Irish leader Micheal Martin, he said: "Nobody is expelling any Palestinians from Gaza."

Nasruddin Amer, deputy head of the Houthi media office, has declared that recent deadly US air strikes will not deter the group, promising retaliation against the United States.

“Sanaa will remain Gaza’s shield and support and will not abandon it no matter the challenges,” Amer stated on social media.

The US strikes followed the Houthis’ warning of renewed attacks on Israeli vessels near Yemen in response to Israel’s blockade on Gaza.

Yahya Saree, the military spokesman for Yemen’s Houthi movement, condemned the US for launching over 170 raids on various regions, calling it an act of "aggression".

Saree stated, “Our forces carried out a qualitative operation targeting the aircraft carrier Truman with 18 ballistic and cruise missiles and drones.”

He warned, “We will not hesitate to target any naval vessels in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea in response to the aggression.”

The Houthis also reaffirmed their naval blockade on Israel, vowing to continue until aid is allowed into Gaza.

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has declared that American forces will continue their attacks on Yemen’s Houthi rebels until the group halts its assaults on ships and drones in the Red Sea.

Speaking to Fox News, Hegseth stated, “The minute the Houthis say they’ll stop shooting at your ships and drones, this campaign will end. Until then, it will be unrelenting.”

He framed the offensive as essential to safeguarding US interests, accusing Iran of enabling the Houthis and warning, “They better back off.”

US President Donald Trump’s recent threat of further attacks has drawn sharp criticism, with the Houthis dismissing it as an attempt to intimidate. The group remains defiant, framing its actions as a response to Israel’s ongoing siege and US aggression.

The United States launched a large-scale bombing campaign against Yemen's Houthis on Saturday, killing and wounding dozens. The US president warned that "hell will rain down upon" the group if it did not stop attacking international shipping.

At least 31 people were killed and 101 others wounded in the strikes, mostly women and children, Anis al-Asbahi, spokesperson for the Yemeni health ministry, said on Sunday.

Four children and a woman were killed in a strike that hit two houses in northern Saada province, Yemeni media reported. Footage shared on local media showed children and a woman among those being treated in a hospital emergency room.

The attack marks the biggest US military operation in the Middle East since Donald Trump took office. A US official told Reuters that the attacks on Yemen might continue for weeks.

Yemen’s Houthis have accused the US of escalating tensions in the Red Sea, saying that American attacks pose the greatest threat to international shipping.

The group insists its maritime operations will persist until Israel ends its blockade on Gaza and allows critical humanitarian aid into the besieged territory.

Last week, the Houthis warned they would target Israeli vessels if aid restrictions on Gaza remained. They also reported that US strikes have killed at least 31 people, mostly women and children.

US President Donald Trump’s recent threat of further attacks has drawn sharp criticism, with the Houthis dismissing it as an attempt to intimidate. The group remains defiant, framing its actions as a response to Israel’s ongoing siege and US aggression.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told CBS that there will be an increase in the detention of pro-Palestinian protesters and the revocation of their green cards and visas.

This follows the arrest of Columbia University protester Mahmoud Khalil, who is still in detention.

"Every day now, we're approving visa revocations," Rubio said. "And if that led to a green card, then green cards as well".

He added: "If you tell us when you apply for a visa, I'm coming to the US to participate in pro-Hamas events that run counter to the foreign policy interest… If you had told us that you were going to do that, we never would have given you the visa."

US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff has called Hamas' demands regarding the Gaza ceasefire "an unacceptable response", saying the group's proposal was a "non-starter".

In an interview with CNN, he described the recent Arab summit in Cairo as "game-changing, but for Hamas' response".

Hamas reportedly said negotiations for a ceasefire must begin on the same day as the next release of Palestinian detainees and Israeli captives, further demanding an end to Israel's blockade of Gaza.

"There's an opportunity for [Hamas], but the opportunity is closing fast," Witkoff said.

This comes as Israeli and Hamas delegations negotiate in Doha.
