Israel is carrying out heavy overnight strikes on parts of Gaza City in the north, and Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip, local media are reporting.

Israel has already violated the 10 October ceasefire more than 500 times, officials in Gaza have said.

The United Nations humanitarian affairs office, Ocha, said on Wednesday that on 24 and 25 November, its partners in Gaza managed to distribute 5,328 tarpaulins to 1,776 households after heavy rains and wind flooded and destroyed thousands of displacement tents over the past week.

Ocha also said that 2,232 blankets went out to 558 households in Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis.

On Tuesday, an Ocha partner resumed tent distribution in Gaza City, the agency said, with the aim of providing one tent to each of the 258 families identified as requiring shelter there.

Officials in Gaza had previously said that since the ceasefire went into effect, Israel has only allowed in 30,000 tents, while in actuality, in light of the weather conditions, the need is for 300,000 tents - ten times the amount.

A Trump administration official confirmed reports that it is working on a plan to build housing for thousands of "screened" Palestinians behind the so-called yellow line in Gaza, which is occupied by Israeli troops, according to a report by The New York Times published on Wednesday.

The plan to build these housing compounds, dubbed “Alternative Safe Communities”, is being led by a team of US officials and former Department of Government Efficiency workers, or Doge, who are based in the luxury beachfront Kempinski and Hilton hotels in Tel Aviv, The New York Times reported.

The article cited dozens of US officials and people familiar with the plan, but obtained a public confirmation from Aryeh Lightstone, who the New York Times identified as a senior Trump administration official leading the effort.

A wounded Palestinian man was arrested from an ambulance by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said.

The arrest took place at the gateway to the town of Tammoun, south of Tubas, where Israeli forces launched an extensive military assault earlier in the day.

The man arrested has been identified as Mohammad Ala'a Bani Odeh, whom the Quds News Network points out was only recently released from Israeli prison in one of the captive exchanges negotiated with Hamas.

The news comes as Israel releases the mayor of Tammoun, Samir Bisharat, after his arrest earlier on Wednesday.

Police in London arrested protestors opposing the ban on Palestine Action outside the High Court on Wednesday, as lawyers representing the co-founder of the group argued against the UK government's decision to designate it a terrorist organisation.

Holding placards that read "I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action" and silver heat blankets, dozens stood behind the Royal Courts of Justice in Central London as the long-awaited judicial review into the UK government's ban on the direct-action group began on Wednesday morning.

A pensioner who joined the action hosted by the group Defend Our Juries was detained by the police and could be seen struggling to walk to the police van after dozens formed a line outside the court on Wednesday afternoon to oppose the ban.

Israel has passed more than 30 laws since October 2023 that deepen a system of apartheid and repression against Palestinians, legal centre Adalah has said in a new report.

The laws, enacted between 7 October 2023 and 27 July 2025, target a range of political and civil rights, including freedom of expression, protest and thought, citizenship and family life, equality and social rights, and the rights of detainees and prisoners.

“These new laws fundamentally violate the human rights of Palestinians,” Adalah said in the report, published on Monday.

The report identifies several legislative trends in recent years.

Israeli forces launched an extensive military assault on the northern occupied West Bank city of Tubas on Wednesday.

Troops stormed Palestinian homes in the early morning hours in the towns of Tammun, Tayasir and Aqaba, turning several houses into temporary military barracks. Residents were forcibly removed from their homes.

Israeli forces also closed roads and erected earth mounds, obstructing the movement of people across the area.

According to local media, Apache helicopters were seen flying over the city, reportedly firing arbitrarily at civilian homes.

Israel returned the bodies of 15 Palestinian prisoners under the ceasefire exchange deal, the health ministry in Gaza said.

"The Ministry of Health announces the receipt of 15 bodies of martyrs released today by the Israeli occupation via the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), bringing the total number of bodies received to 345," the ministry said in a statement.

The ceasefire deal requires Israel to return the bodies of 15 Palestinians for every deceased Israeli returned.

The 15 bodies returned on Wednesday were in exchange for the remains of Dror Or, one of the last three deceased captives held in Gaza.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said the handover "reflects Hamas's steadfast commitment to fully complete the exchange process and its ongoing efforts to finalise it despite significant difficulties."

Four months ago, few people imagined they could be accused of being a terrorist for simply holding a cardboard sign.

Yet, since the UK government proscribed Palestine Action, police have carried out early-morning house raids, seized phones and laptops, and imposed bail conditions on people with no criminal record.

Teachers, pensioners, students, clergy members and community activists have found themselves detained and charged under sections 12 and 13 of the Terrorism Act - often for holding a sign that read: "I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action".

According to campaign group Defend Our Juries (DOJ), which have been coordinating protests against the ban on Palestine Action, these arrests have now gone beyond the 2,000 mark.

The director of the Palestine Red Crescent in the occupied West Bank Governorate of Tubas on Wednesday said that dozens of Palestinians have been wounded after being assaulted by Israeli soldiers, Al Jazeera reported.

The official noted the difficulty in sheltering those forcibly displaced as a result of the Israeli operation in Tubas, the report said.

The military has laid siege to the town of Tammun in the Tubas Governorate, located 13 kilometres northeast of Nablus.

The mayor Tammun said that the forces have displaced many families, turning their homes into military barracks and sealed the town.

The Israeli army also cut off roads connecting the town with the rest of the West Bank, and severed electricity lines and drinking water pipes.

During the same period, 596 bodies have been recovered.
