Unrwa on Tuesday said that around 75,000 displaced people are sheltering in more than 100 agency buildings in Gaza, most of which are damaged and overcrowded.

“For many displaced women and girls, daily life means coping without dignity, safety, or adequate hygiene. Limited access to healthcare and basic hygiene supplies makes each day a struggle,” the agency said in a social media post.

The comments come as the UN secretary general’s deputy spokesperson confirmed that 81 percent of the enclave’s structures have suffered destruction, underscoring the catastrophic scale of Israel’s assault on the enclave, which has been recognised as a genocide by the UN.

Citing satellite data, the UN said that entire neighbourhoods across Gaza have been reduced to rubble, leaving families displaced and essential infrastructure obliterated.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was reached on 10 October. Israel has committed 194 violations of the agreement, the director of the government media office in Gaza said.

The Trump administration is pushing a draft UN Security Council resolution that would establish an International Stabilisation Force (ISF), which allows the US and partner countries to govern Gaza for up to two years, news organisation Axios reported.

The ISF would be granted a broad mandate, effectively taking over security and governance in Gaza, according to a copy of the draft resolution obtained by Axios.

The draft also says the ISF will perform “additional tasks as may be necessary in support of the Gaza agreement,” and that it will be established and operate “in close consultation and cooperation with Egypt and Israel.”

The force’s mandate will also include disarming Hamas, and demilitarising the Gaza Strip.

Egypt has warned that the scale of destruction caused by Israel’s assault on Gaza will require an astronomical $70 billion to rebuild.

Speaking to CBS, Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said the figure reflects the unprecedented devastation Israel has inflicted on the enclave.

Khallaf added that Hamas “understands it has no place” in governing Gaza once reconstruction begins

The United Nations has condemned Israel’s systematic targeting of journalists in Gaza and demanded accountability for the killings.

UN Deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq said impunity for such crimes must end, stressing that those responsible for attacks on reporters must face justice.

“The secretary-general and the high commissioner for human rights have spoken at length on this and have repeatedly said there must be accountability for all crimes committed in Gaza, including those against journalists,” Haq told Al Jazeera.

“Journalists are the eyes and ears of the world, and it is no surprise that there are forces on the ground, including governments, who try to silence them,” he added.

According to the Shireen Abu Akleh Observatory, nearly 300 journalists and media workers have been killed since Israel’s assault began, a toll that exposes the extreme danger faced by those documenting Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

When a video surfaced last year showing Israeli soldiers raping a Palestinian prisoner, the outrage in Israel was immediate - but not over the crime.

Instead, the fury was directed at the leak.

Last week, Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi stepped down as the Israeli army’s lawyer after confirming her involvement in leaking CCTV footage from inside the notorious Sde Teiman detention camp during Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.

In the footage, heavily armed Israeli soldiers can be seen grabbing and leading away a blindfolded Palestinian prisoner before surrounding him with riot shields to obscure their gang rape.

The Palestinian man, who, according to some reports, has since been sent back to Gaza, suffered an injury to his anus, a ruptured bowel, lung damage, and broken ribs.

In a small, plain white hall, dozens of mothers and wives sit silently in the front rows. Fathers, brothers and friends stand at the back, leaning against the walls.

All eyes are fixed on a screen at the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, showing images of partially decomposed bodies - remains that may belong to someone they love.

Invited by local authorities in Gaza, families study the photographs closely, hoping to identify their missing sons among Palestinians killed by Israeli forces.

The bodies, bearing clear signs of torture and decomposition, were recently handed over by Israeli authorities as part of a prisoner swap deal with Hamas.

They were returned without any form of identification, including the date of death or location.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Turkey is ready to do whatever is needed for peace in Gaza but only if a clear and fair framework is established.

Speaking after a meeting in Istanbul with ministers from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Pakistan and Indonesia, Fidan warned that the gulf between Israel and the Palestinians remains wide and cannot be bridged quickly.

He accused Israel of repeatedly breaching the ceasefire and blocking vital humanitarian aid, stressing that such actions must end if there is to be any hope of stability.

Fidan added that participating countries will decide later whether to send troops to the proposed International Stabilisation Force (ISF), part of US President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan to oversee security in Gaza.

However, he noted that key questions remain unanswered, including what powers the ISF would have, who would take part, and what rules of engagement it would follow.

The Palestinian foreign ministry has denounced Israel’s proposed death penalty law for those accused of “terrorism”, describing it as “a decision for extrajudicial field executions and intentions to commit a crime”.

The ministry urged the international community to intervene and hold Israeli officials behind the bill accountable, warning it would legitimise the state's murder of Palestinians under the guise of law.

The legislation, championed by far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, was pushed through the Knesset’s National Security Committee on Monday, drawing widespread condemnation from human rights groups.

It will go before parliament for its first reading on Wednesday, a move critics say exposes Israel’s deepening slide into authoritarianism and open embrace of racist, retributive violence against Palestinians.
