Israeli warplanes have carried out intense air raids on the central and northern areas of Rafah in southern Gaza, Al Jazeera Arabic is reporting.
Explosions were heard across the Gaza Strip after strikes east of Gaza City, with the correspondent noting that at least 10 air attacks also hit Khan Younis.
The Israeli occupation army launched dozens of air and artillery strikes from last night through this morning, in what Palestinian officials are calling a flagrant breach of the ceasefire agreement.
Israeli occupation forces detained 11 Palestinians during pre-dawn raids in the Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate on Wednesday, according to security sources speaking to Wafa.
Troops stormed the town of Dura al-Qar’a, northeast of Ramallah, and arrested 10 people: the brothers Ahmed and Mahmoud Jamal al-Masri, Islam Radwan, Ahmed Jamal Hassan, Ibrahim Amin, Rami Hassan, Mahmoud Hassan, Farah al-Saadi and his sons Yahya and Amin.
In a separate raid in Beitunia, west of Ramallah, the occupation forces arrested 19-year-old Fares Ahmed Abdel Halim after breaking into his home. His brother was beaten during the raid and taken to hospital for treatment.
Medical sources have told Al Jazeera that at least 90 Palestinians have been killed in the latest Israeli bombardment of Gaza.
Central Gaza has recorded the highest number of fatalities, with 42 people killed, while 31 were confirmed dead in the north and 18 in the south, the figures are expected to rise as people are taken out of the rubble.
In a new wave of attacks across the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces have killed at least 63 Palestinians, including 24 children, medical sources have told Al Jazeera Arabic.
A medical source at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital told Al Jazeera Arabic that at least five Palestinians were killed and several others wounded after an Israeli air strike hit a tent sheltering displaced families in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.
The attack struck an area where civilians had taken refuge from earlier bombardment, in yet another Israeli assault on locations explicitly designated for displaced people.
Good morning Middle East Eye readers,
Here are the latest updates from Israel's war on Gaza, now in its 753rd day:
-
Israeli forces have bombed multiple areas across Gaza, killing at least 60 Palestinians, shortly after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered what he called “powerful strikes” on the besieged enclave.
-
The escalation followed a gun battle in southern Rafah, where an Israeli soldier was reported wounded.
-
Hamas’s Qassam Brigades accused Israel of breaching the pause in fighting and announced it was delaying the planned transfer of a captive’s body.
-
The group said its fighters had also recovered the bodies of two other Israeli captives, Amiram Cooper and Sahar Baruch, during Tuesday's search operations.
-
Suhail al-Hindi, a senior Hamas political official, told Al Jazeera the group remains committed to the truce and that Israel holds “full responsibility for any delay in recovering the remaining bodies” of captives.
-
US Vice President JD Vance said Washington still considers the ceasefire to be in effect, despite the latest strikes and mutual accusations of violations.
Our live blog is now closed until tomorrow morning.
Here are the day's key developments:
- Health officials in Gaza are now reporting the number of dead has exceeded 30 after Israel resumed air strikes across Gaza late Tuesday evening, local time.
- US Vice President JD Vance told reporters "the ceasefire is holding," and "that doesn't mean that there aren't going to be little skirmishes here and there".
- Suheil al-Hindi, a member of Hamas's political bureau, rejected the Israeli accusation that Hamas is buying time by pretending to search for the remains of captives. He said the group does not benefit from any such action.
- Israel has committed 125 violations of the ceasefire agreement since it came into effect on 10 October, the Gaza government media office said.
- The number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip since October 2023 has surpassed 68,500, the Palestinian health ministry announced. The majority of those killed are women and children.
Health officials in Gaza are now reporting the number of dead has exceeded 30 after Israel resumed air strikes across Gaza late Tuesday evening, local time.
US Vice President JD Vance said on Tuesday the ceasefire in Gaza was holding despite Israeli strikes in Gaza City and both Israel and Hamas accusing each other of violations.
"The ceasefire is holding. That doesn't mean that there aren't going to be little skirmishes here and there," Vance told reporters.
"We know that Hamas or somebody else within Gaza attacked an [Israeli military] soldier. We expect the Israelis are going to respond, but I think the President's peace is going to hold despite that."

Gaza's civil defence on Tuesday evening local time said at least a dozen Palestinians have been killed across Gaza in renewed and intensive Israeli air strikes, largely in the north of the enclave.
Local reports from northern Gaza say Israel has now launched heavy aerial attacks on the al-Shati refugee camp and the vicinity of the al-Shifa hospital.
This comes as Israeli artillery shells are also fired on Palestinians just east of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday ordered air strikes on Gaza as he accused Hamas of only pretending to actively search for captive remains.
Suheil al-Hindi, a member of Hamas's political bureau, rejected the accusation and said that Palestinian factions do not benefit from concealing any captive remains.
US President Donald Trump had previously acknowledged that it is, in fact, difficult to unearth many of the remains and that the process may take time.

Fifty-five Israeli ministers and members of parliament have urged President Isaac Herzog to pardon Jewish Israeli prisoners convicted of murdering Palestinians.
The lawmakers, including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, have called for 25 of these prisoners to be granted amnesty, according to the Israeli news outlet Ynet.
“Over the past few days, the Israeli government has been releasing thousands of terrorists,” the letter stated, referring to the recent prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas.
“Our signatures in no way constitute agreement with their actions,” the signatories wrote in reference to the Jewish Israelis convicted of murder.
"While these Jews languish in prison, leaving suffering families and sometimes even those who were victims of terrorism, they see terrorists, including despicable murderers, making their way to freedom with their people and their families," the letter said.
"We call on you, Mr President, to act immediately for the release of these handful of Jewish prisoners and to correct this injustice."
The signatories included members of the ruling Likud party and several ministers, among them Transport Minister Miri Regev and Culture Minister Miki Zohar.
