The armed wing of Hamas has said it will hand over the body of an Israeli captive at 8pm local time (18:00 GMT) on Tuesday.

The remains of the captive were discovered a short time ago in a tunnel in the Gaza Strip, Hamas's armed wing said on Telegram.

Israel is expecting the return of 13 more bodies of captives still held in the territory. Hamas has already handed over 20 living captives as part of the ceasefire agreement.

A retired US colonel involved in the investigation into the killing of Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh has said that it concluded she was deliberately shot by an Israeli soldier.

In an interview with American outlet Zeteo News, Steve Gabavics also accused the Biden administration of softening the findings to appease Israel.

Gabavics, who was a chief of staff at the Office of the United States Security Coordinator for Israel and the Palestinian Authority (USSC) at the time of Abu Akleh's killing, was tasked with investigating the shooting on behalf of the US government after the FBI declined to investigate.

He said that his "findings were beyond reasonable doubt" that Akleh's killing was "intentional".

Israeli forces shot and killed Abu Akleh during an Israeli raid on the city of Jenin in the occupied West Bank in May 2022. Her death sparked Palestinian outrage and widespread international condemnation.

An Israeli army investigation into Abu Akleh's killing concluded that she was probably shot by an Israeli soldier but was not deliberately targeted. But several independent investigations found that Abu Akleh and her colleagues were explicitly targeted despite being identifiable as members of the press.

The number of people wounded has risen to 170,402 since the start of the war.

Over the past day, four bodies - including one person recently killed, two whose bodies were recovered, and one who succumbed to their wounds - and seven wounded were taken to hospitals across the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli forces have committed 125 violations of the ceasefire agreement since it came into effect, resulting in the killing of 94 Palestinians and the injury of more than 344 others, the Gaza government media office said.

In a press release published on Tuesday, the office said the Israeli "violations have resulted in the martyrdom of 94 civilians and the injury of 344 others, in a flagrant breach of all international laws and conventions."

The statement said the military has also carried out 52 shooting incidents directly targeting civilians, 9 incursions of military vehicles into residential areas, 55 bombardments and attacks, and 11 demolitions of civilian buildings, in addition to the arrest of 21 citizens in various areas across the Gaza Strip.

"We strongly condemn these repeated acts of aggression and hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for their humanitarian and security consequences," the media office said, calling on US President Donald Trump and the guarantor countries to exert genuine pressure on Israel.

An Israeli state-owned defence company has set up a subsidiary to operate in the United Arab Emirates, in the first such move since Israel and Abu Dhabi normalised relations in 2020.

Controp Precision Technologies will establish and register the subsidiary in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, or ADGM, an economic zone in the Emirati capital.

The Israeli defence ministry approved the move on Sunday, the Times of Israel reported.

The Abu Dhabi-based subsidiary will be Controp’s regional arm in the Gulf region, overseeing marketing, sales and maintenance of its electro-optical systems used for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions across air, land and sea.

Khalil Abu Alrish, director of Palestinian Civil Defence operations in Gaza City, said most of the recovered bodies buried in a makeshift grave last year after Israel besieged al-Shifa Hospital cannot be unidentified, according to Al Jazeera.

Alrish said a search is under way and the rescue team “have recovered more than 50 dead bodies" so far.

He said there are “no identification tools”, such as DNA analysis equipment, available so authorities will be forced to distinguish each unidentified body with a unique code before burying them in a “special cemetery”.

Israel said on Tuesday that a set of partial captive remains returned by Hamas the previous day belonged to a deceased captive recovered by the military around two years ago.

"After completing the identification process this morning, it was found that last night remains belonging to the fallen hostage Ofir Tzarfati, who had been returned from the Gaza Strip in a military operation about two years ago, were returned," prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said.

Iran has demanded a $170m fine from the owner of a cargo ship that it seized in Gulf waters last year and accused of having ties to Israel, a judicial official said on Tuesday.

The Revolutionary Guard intercepted the MSC Aries in April 2024 and detained its 25 international crew members.

At the time, the official IRNA news agency said the Portuguese-flagged vessel was "managed by Zodiac, which belongs to the Zionist capitalist Eyal Ofer".

On Tuesday, Iranian judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir said charges had been filed and the case was before the courts, though no date had been set for a trial.

"A fine of $170m has been demanded against its owner, of Israeli origin, accused of financing terrorism," Jahangir said.

Israeli forces killed three Palestinians on Tuesday during a raid on an occupied West Bank village that involved air strikes.

The attack took place in the early morning hours in the village of Kafr Qud, west of Jenin, when Israeli forces stormed the area and surrounded a house, according to local media reports.

The raid sparked heavy exchanges of fire and aerial shelling.

The Palestinian General Authority for Civil Affairs has identified the three men as Abdullah Mohammed Omar Jalamneh, 27, Qais Ibrahim Mohammed al-Baytawi, 21, and Ahmad Azmi Aref Nashrati, 29.

Israeli media reported that the army had cornered three men inside a cave in the village before snipers shot them, killing two and wounding the third.

Israeli forces on Tuesday prevented Palestinian farmers from reaching their land in the village of Kafr Qaddum, east of Qalqilya in the occupied West Bank, during the olive harvest, according to local sources cited by Wafa news agency.

The soldiers entered the north-western area of the village, known as Qatayn, and blocked access to farmland, leaving dozens of farmers waiting at the entrance.

The Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said its teams had documented 158 incidents targeting olive pickers since the start of the season, including obstruction and harassment by settlers and soldiers.
