Israeli settler leader Daniella Weiss has said she recently visited northern Gaza to scout locations for future Israeli settlements there.

During an interview on Channel 13 on Saturday, Weiss said she has the support of 740 families to establish settlements in the Palestinian territory and was hoping to grow support from "one to two million Israelis".

"Yesterday we were on a tour at a temporary site near the Gaza border, where we set up 40 trailers that we will eventually move into Gaza," she said on the evening news programme.

"The truth is we are still a few steps away from real estate, but yes, I was in the field," Weiss told the interviewer when he questioned if she entered Gaza after 7 October.

The only alternative to the U.N. Palestinian agency's work in Gaza is to allow Israel to run services there, its chief told reporters on Monday, repeating calls for countries to resist an Israeli ban on the organisation.

Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General, is in Geneva for a strategy meeting with donors after it was banned by Israel from operating there last month in what he said is one of the darkest moments in the agency's history.

"I have drawn the attention of the member states that now the clock is ticking ... We have to stop or prevent the implementation of this bill," he told reporters, saying there is no alternative to the agency's services in Gaza besides allowing Israel to take them over.

According to the report, Hochstein will only come if significant progress has been made in ceasefire negotiations for Lebanon.

The Turkish government has denied that the Palestinian movement Hamas has relocated its political bureau to Turkey, amidst claims that the group was looking for a new home after a purported Qatari request to leave the Gulf state.

Turkish diplomatic sources told journalists on Monday that members of the Hamas political bureau visit Turkey from time to time but the claims that the group has moved to the country “do not reflect the truth".

On Sunday, Israeli public broadcaster Kan reported that Hamas members departed from Doha to Turkey after Qatar allegedly requested their departure.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that the issue of humanitarian aid into Gaza and the Israeli army’s denial of responsibility towards its distribution are two issues that are “more serious” than the failures that led to the 7 October attacks.

"There's a meeting with the defence minister today about the humanitarian aid [going into Gaza], and the IDF will take responsibility for ensuring its distribution in a way that prevents it from reaching Hamas," he said in an interview with the Israeli Army Radio on Monday.

After his remarks, Smotrich requested to clarify on air that he did not intend to make a comparison between the two issues and the 7 October attacks, according to Israeli news outlet Haaretz.
