Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday gave an address announcing the formation of an emergency government with opposition parties.

In the address, he said: "Every member of Hamas is a dead man."

Speaking alongside Netanyahu, National Unity leader Benny Gantz said "there is a time for peace and a time for war. Now is a time for war". He added that "at this time, we are all Israel's soldiers".

The Canadian government is worried about what will happen in Gaza, Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said on Wednesday, citing dire humanitarian conditions in the besieged enclave.

The remarks were the clearest expressions of concern for Palestinians by a major western nation so far.

In contrast, when pressed about Israel’s military response, White House national security advisor Jake Sullivan said, “I’m not here to draw red lines”.

Jordanians took to the streets of Amman again on Wednesday evening to voice their support for the Palestinian people, amid an ongoing Israeli bombing campaign on Gaza.

Turkey is carrying out negotiations for civilians currently held by Hamas, a senior Turkish official told Reuters.

The UN Palestinian refugee agency says it needs the funds to cover its humanitarian response over the next 90 days.

“The requested funds will cover the urgent immediate food, non-food, health, shelter and protection needs of up to 250,000 persons seeking safety in UNRWA shelters across the ravaged Gaza Strip and another 250,000 Palestine refugees within the community.”

There have been reports of the exchanging of fire in the occupied West Bank cities of Hebron and Jenin, according to Palestinian news outlets.

So far, Israeli forces have killed at least 28 Palestinians in the West Bank since Saturday.

There are a "very small" number of Americans being held hostage by Hamas in Gaza, White House national security advisor John Kirby said on Wednesday.

He added that there at 17 American citizens that are currently missing.

Earlier on Wednesday, the US said at least 22 Americans have been killed. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that this number could go up.

A spokesperson for the Israeli military has said that there are no security incidents taking place in the north, after reports earlier stated that drones or paragliders infiltrated Israel from Lebanon.

Sirens were sounded all over northern Israel. The spokesperson said that the alerts may have been a malfunction.

Hundreds of far-right Israeli citizens entered the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv after false rumours that "terrorists" were hospitalised there.

According to Haaretz, they could be seen wandering the hospital and harassing and spitting at medical staff.

Israel's Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (Cogat) cancelled the work permits of Palestinian workers from Gaza on Wednesday morning. The move has left them stranded in Israel.

According to Israeli media, around 150,000 Palestinians from the occupied West Bank and Gaza work in Israel.

With the Erez crossing between Gaza and Israel closed, and with no legal status in Israel, many are now at a loss.

Gaza workers in Israel stranded after permits revoked

Palestinian UN envoy Riyad Mansour says an additional 100,000 Palestinians could be displaced.

“Situation is extremely horrific against our civilian population. The destruction is beyond imagination,” he said.

Mansour said he met with UN Security Council president and urged the opening of a humanitarian corridor for aid into the Gaza Strip, but that cannot happen without pausing bombardment.

“There has to be a humanitarian intervention to avoid a looming catastrophe.”

The Arab League concluded its emergency meeting of foreign ministers in Cairo and affirmed the importance of Israel fulfilling its obligations under international law as an occupying power for the Palestinians.

"We affirm the importance of resuming the peace process and starting serious negotiations between Palestine Liberation Organization and Israel," said a statement from the meeting.

Nato chief Jens Stoltenberg said on Wednesday that Israel has the right to defend itself but expects civilians to be protected.

“[I] expect that of course when we see Israel['s] responses it will be proportionate and it is important as this conflict continues to do whatever is possible to prevent the loss of innocent civilian lives.”
