Israel's captives coordinator has demanded that the ceasefire deal mediators provide information about the fate of freed captive Yarden Bibas' wife and children.

“Yarden has returned home. But his wife Shiri and his children Ariel and Kfir have not. We have been searching for them for a long time, tracking their traces and investigating their fate,” Gal Hirsch, Israel’s captives coordinator, said in a statement.

“The Bibas family … has been living in constant fear for their lives for a long time … We continue to demand information about their condition from the mediators,” Hirsch added.

Bibas, his wife and children were captured in the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023. His son Kfir is two years old and is the youngest captive held in Gaza.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has issued a statement confirming the transferral of three Israeli captives out of Gaza and the release of 183 Palestinian prisoners, including 175 transferred by the ICRC to Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

"This marks the completion of the fourth phase of release operations carried out by the ICRC in the last two weeks, facilitating the return of 18 hostages and 583 Palestinian detainees," the statement said.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, the Palestinian Authority and the Arab League have rejected US President Donald Trump's proposal to forcibly transfer Palestinians from Gaza to neighbouring Egypt and Jordan.

The countries warned that the move could “threaten the region’s stability, risk expanding the conflict, and undermine prospects for peace and coexistence among its peoples.”

The statement followed a meeting in Cairo of top diplomats from Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, as well as Hussein al-Sheikh - a senior Palestinian official who serves as the main liaison with Israel - and Arab League chief Ahmed Aboul-Gheit.

Hamas said in a statement that the Palestinian prisoners released by Israel on Saturday are now receiving treatment at hospitals due to “the abuse and torture they were subjected to” in Israeli prisons.

The group said that this “confirms the ugliness of what the prisoners are subjected to in the jails” of Israel.

“These horrific and ongoing violations against our heroic prisoners constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity,” it added, calling on the international community, United Nations and NGOs to hold Israel accountable.

Advocacy group the Palestinian Prisoners Club has released a statement saying that the recently released Palestinian prisoners show signs of torture, starvation, infections and scabies.

The newly released Palestinian prisoners who have just arrived in Khan Younis are undergoing medical checks at the European Hospital.

A Palestinian woman told Al Jazeera that her brother, a former prisoner who had just arrived on the bus, looked "very frail and sick".

“The moment I set my eyes on my brother I was filled with joy, but this joy was shortlived simply because my mother died and I could not have the courage to tell him," she said.

“Other brothers have been taken behind Israeli bars, our homes have been razed, levelled to the ground. Our joy cannot be completed until all Palestinians are free.”

A new report has revealed a sharp uptick in the number of Israeli demolitions of Palestinian homes in Jerusalem and other parts of the occupied West Bank.

According to the report, the surge is driven by pressure from the far-right Religious Zionism party, led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and the Jewish Power party, led by Itamar Ben Gvir, the former national security minister, along with key figures from the Likud party and the "Land of Israel Lobby" in the Israeli Knesset.

Last Sunday, Israeli authorities issued demolition orders for all homes in Khirbet al-Nu’man, a village near Bethlehem, according to the weekly settlement report. The orders, which impact 45 homes, were issued under the pretext of lacking permits.

According to head of the local council, Jamal al-Darawi, the Jerusalem municipality has systematically denied the village water, sewage and waste collection.

In Silwan, a Palestinian neighbourhood in occupied Jerusalem, around 7,500 residents are either facing demolition orders or seizure by settler groups.

Between October 2023 and November 2024, Israeli forces demolished 320 Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem, with 87 in Silwan alone.
